We skipped on over to New Orleans

Oh hi there.  I forgot I had a little space to write about things and lo, things didn't get written.  I honestly don't have a whole lot to write about.

Since we last met:  I have had no other health issues, so that's good.  The neurologist has just had me come in for a couple of follow ups to make sure the dosage for the migraine prevention medicine is good (seems to be ok) and make sure I'm not having any weird side effects that he needs to address.  The side effects I AM having are 1.  diet soda tastes like ass and 2. I feel fuzzy headed.  Not a huge deal, but I am no longer drinking any diet coke or diet dr. pepper, only iced tea for caffeine.  Did I already cover this in the last post?  Sorry.

Another thing that happened since my last post?  We went to New Orleans for a long weekend. I live within a (long) driving distance (6 hours) and I have never been.  SO, we booked a cheap hotel and set off on a Friday morning and stayed 3 nights.  Here are some pictures.
It was Navy Week.  Lots of boats and sailors.
Look! More boats
And bums sleeping anywhere they fall.  Cozy.
This was in front of the Riverwalk thing.  I think?
 French Quarter
That's Jackson Square and the church and stuff.
As you can see, I'm practically poetic in my description of things. I learned a little bit about the city and took notes about when I plan to return.  For those of you going to the Blathering, which I am kinda curious about and am getting the itch to consider it, take heed.  PAY THE MONEY FOR THE NICER HOTEL.  We thought we could just get the cheap place and drive into the nicer areas when we wanted to go during the day.  Dear god, it was so scary.  We were next to a huge abandon building, and on the other side of that building was a big sex shop with scary people loitering about.  We had no clue it would be so bad! The place has really good ratings and reviews on Trip Advisor. When we got in at night, we did not leave.  I wanted to get some bottled water at a convenience store, and the boyfriend was having none of that.  We just parked at Harrah's downtown each day because we played for 30 minutes ANYWAY, and once you played for 30 minutes on their little player's card, you got free parking.  Oh and we won a big jackpot (big to us, anyway) on a penny slot machine, so WIN WIN.  It was enough to pay for our entire trip to New Orleans, and then some.

Another fun thing about New Orleans is that all of the fun stuff to see and do involves DRINKING AND EATING.  Now, I'm not much of a drinker and I have always been such a light-weight, drinking wise.  I feel tipsy off a dose of Nyquil, so it surely doesn't take much to get me drunk.  Plus I'm not a big party-goer anyway, so the Bourbon Street experience was more for just the daytime walking through and looking at stuff. It would take a lot to get me down there at night.  But the FOOD?  Hoooo boy the food is GOOD.  And part of the reason I feel the need to go back is because I didn't get to eat it all! I missed out on so much stuff because there are only so many meals you can eat in one day!

Well of course I had to have a grenade on Bourbon Street.

Seriously?  SO DAMN GOOD.
Don't mind me, but the beignets were fucking delicious.

I don't like oysters, but the boyfriend enjoyed these.  They are covered in cheese.
My first Pinkberry experience.  Pretty damn tasty.
Shrimp WITH HEADS.  Hence the big apron they give you to wear.

So, it was a fun trip, and I'd like to go back.  I can definitely see taking kids there because there was a lot to do with kids.  If you want to know specifically where we ate or did, you can ask in the comments or send me an email.  I will not recommend our hotel to you because I want you to be safe.

How are you guys doing?  I feel out of touch! I have been working a lot lately!  So many people are dying right now.  What is the deal with that? I get home and I am exhausted.  We cook dinner and watch an episode of Idiot Abroad and then crash.  THAT REMINDS ME.  Have you guys been watching that show?? I think I have cried-laughed at pretty much every episode so far.  If you haven't seen it, you need to see it right now.  I think it comes on the science channel, which is weird, but ok.

Ok soon, I will write more, I promise.  I will make it a point to have a more exciting life.
